Today, six groups of students from West Jessamine High School, with their teacher Beth Crist, will make field trips to the Polvino Family Art Center. At the Center, the students will view the works of nearly 30 of their fellow students. This work has been on display during the month of February in the exhibit "WESTern Art". The work on display in this exhibit ranges from graphite drawings, to paintings, mixed media, collages and assemblages.
Work began today on the demolition required for construction of the downtown Nicholasville performance park. This park will make a dramatic impact on the north side of the South 100 block of Main Street. The park is being built on what, for many years, had been a vacant lot. The Creative Art League first proposed the project to the Nicholasville City Commission almost two years ago. The Commission enthusiastically supported the project and city officials and personnel, together with Banks Engineering, have done the heavy lifting to get this project begun. The Creative Art League is looking for people to help us with our programs and events. As you may not know, the Creatuve Art League is virtually self-supporting and gets very little public funding. This means that we have had to rely upon ourselves and the people who attend our events to pay the bills and get things done. This month we feature one of Edgar Allen Poe's classics, "The Fall of the House of Usher" starring Norman Cline as Roderick Usher, Doug Fain as the long time friend and David Damron as the announcer and the physician. It originally aired on October 22, 1947 as part of the Escape radio program.
"All Creatures Great & Small", a juried art exhibit, will be on display the month of April 2017 at the Polvino Family art Center, 109 S. Main Street in Nicholasville, KY. This exhibit, sponsored by Downtown Dogs Spa in Nicholasville, features work of many artists reflecting the theme of the animal world. The opening reception is Friday, April 7, from 5-8 pm as one of the exhibits in the first 2017 Gallery Walk. The 2017 Gallery Walks are sponsored by the Nicholasville Tourism Commission.
The exhibit "Heartbreak and Halfpipes" will be on display during the month of March at the Polvino Family Art Center, 109 S. Main Street in Nicholasville, KY.
