Today we are trying something different artistically. Rather than my usual Halloween / Haunt themed works, we are doing 2D painting with CALJessamine. Peggy Bishop pulled the class together and did a great job getting us all going.
CAL is offering 8 of these this year, each with a different theme. I'd urge anyone that may be interested in painting to attend and give it a shot.
Last Friday at the Jessamine Creative Art League Art Walk I was thrilled to be interviewed by Tosha Baker from the Jessamine Journal. I had no idea what to expect and she did great waking me through the interview making me feel calm and comfortable. Here it is: Jessamine Journal - Neighbors: David Dienhart at the gallery walk
I've been working diligently on a new mold for my Baby Doll Head Candle Holder and finally finished it last night and cast my first iron cold cast resin piece tonight. I'll be debuting this piece on Oct 7th at the Jessamine Creative Art League Art walk and at Barktoberfest on Oct 8th. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out and look forward to casting it in hydro-stone plaster as well. This piece still has a raw iron finish which I'll rust it and finish later in the week.
If you know me or you've read any of my other blog entries, you know that I have a real passion for creating Halloween Props and decorations. I enjoy the challenges that must be overcome to create and build something great. I enjoy applying what I've learned through engineering and various artistic mediums. I think it makes my props and decorations more unique and interesting. Many folks have commented on how much they enjoy my work over the years, so, I decided to open up my own Etsy store. I'll post new Halloween props and decorations to it as I complete them, so please check back often.
