Freedom to Create II--Closing Reception Success
Nearly 150 p[eople gathered last night, April 28, 2017, at the Polvino Family Art Center for the closing reception of "Freedom to Create II"--the second annual statewide elementary and middle school art competition ever in Kentucky. This competition, begun last year, is a joint project of the Kentucky Art Educators Association and the Creative Art League of Jessamine County. This year, 25 schools from across the Commonwealth entered the competition. Each school could send its 5 best works in each of four categories--painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed media. It was an honor for these young artists to have their work selected for entry,. At the closing reception, awards were presented to the winning artists. People attended from many parts of the state including Warren, Owen, Greenup, Casey, Madison, Fayette and Jessamine Counties. Earlier in the month, a busload of students and parents from Science Hill Elementary arrived on a field trip to view the work. Another example of how the Creative Art League's programs bring people into Jessamine County.
