Staci Goggins is the Creative Art League board member in charge of our children's art programs. Staci is originally from Ohio, moved to Kentucky in 2001 and just recently moved to Jessamine County. She is currently in her 7th year teaching art at Rosenwald Dunbar Elementary School. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Art Education and a Master's Degree in Art Education. She is currently the elementary representative for the Kentucky Art Education Association. Staci is active with the Creative Art League. Today, six groups of students from West Jessamine High School, with their teacher Beth Crist, will make field trips to the Polvino Family Art Center. At the Center, the students will view the works of nearly 30 of their fellow students. This work has been on display during the month of February in the exhibit "WESTern Art". The work on display in this exhibit ranges from graphite drawings, to paintings, mixed media, collages and assemblages.
Work began today on the demolition required for construction of the downtown Nicholasville performance park. This park will make a dramatic impact on the north side of the South 100 block of Main Street. The park is being built on what, for many years, had been a vacant lot. The Creative Art League first proposed the project to the Nicholasville City Commission almost two years ago. The Commission enthusiastically supported the project and city officials and personnel, together with Banks Engineering, have done the heavy lifting to get this project begun. The Creative Art League is looking for people to help us with our programs and events. As you may not know, the Creatuve Art League is virtually self-supporting and gets very little public funding. This means that we have had to rely upon ourselves and the people who attend our events to pay the bills and get things done. If you are looking for a way to get involved in Jessamine County, we have a volunteer spot for you. You do not need to know anything about art or be an artist.
