Join us tonight for the closing reception and awards ceremony for Freedom to Create II--the second annual statewide elementary and middle school art competition. This event is a joint project of the Kentucky Art Educators Association and the Creative Art League. Twenty-four school from all across the state have entries, including many of our own Jessamine County schools. Awards will be given for painting, drawing and mixed media. The reception is at the Polvino Family Art Center, 109 S. Main in downtown Nicholasville.
Enrollment is now being accepted for the summer session of the very popular JCAL (Junior Creative Art League) Sunday programs. Your young artist, ages 6-11, can enjoy weekly art instruction by Hope Soch and Staci Goggins, two of Jessamine County's certified art teachers. The young artists will explore different mediums and techniques and boost their creativity. The final Sunday will feature an exhibit of the work created during the summer to which family and friends are invited. Space is limited so early enrollment is encouraged. The KCAL Old Time Radio Show Spring Fling is scheduled for April 21-23, 2017. Friday, April 21 is sold out but there are still tickets available for Saturday, April 22, and Sunday, April 23. Cast members include David Damron, Madalyn Gannon, Caroline Denise Teater Cline, Norman L. On Friday, Arpil 14, 2017, Maura the Painting Dog demonstrated her training and technique at Downtown Dogs Spa in Nicholasville. This demonstration was one of the events of the Creative Art League's first 2017 Gallery Walk. Maura, a trained service, is a Labradour and was all business when she had her Service Dog vest on. She concentratedon her painting and on following commands. Everyone who saw her paint was impressed. The next Gallery Walk is Friday, June 9, 2017. The 2017 Gallery Walks are sponsored by the Nicholasville Tourism Commission.
Twenty-five students and 7 adults from Science Hill Elementary School made a field trip today to the Polvino Family Art Center. The group was there to view the entries in the Statewide Elementary & Middle School Art Competition. This Competition, in its second year, is a joint project of the Kentucky Art Educators Association and the Creative Art League. This year 24 schools from across the state sent entries. The closing reception, and the awards ceremony, will be Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5:30-7:00 pm at the Polvino Family Art Center, 109 S. Main in downtown Nicholasville.
